Answer:

1. Poverty

2. Lack of education

3. Lack of law enforcement

Explanation:

The main factors that have contributed to the increase in human trafficking include:

1. Poverty- Families below the poverty line struggle to make ends meet. Since they do not have enough to feed the children, any offer from human traffickers is hard to resist. Therefore, children are sold by willing parents, who desperately need money, no matter how small the amount is. Hunger therefore pushes young children into the flesh trade.

2. Lack of education- The lack of education has a double impact on human trafficking. To begin with, the uneducated youth cannot find jobs that are good enough to support themselves or their families. Next, there is no understanding of family planning. When a young couple has many children and no source of income, human trafficking seems like a convenient way of getting rid of the unwanted children and getting some money to run the house.

3. Lack of law enforcement- While many know that human trafficking is a crime, they bank on the incapacity of the law enforcement agencies to effectively track down and punish the offenders. The legal process is slow and tedious. The offenders often get away with petty bribes given to police officers.

Given all these reasons, it is not difficult to understand why human trafficking has developed into a complete industry by itself. As shameful and tragic it may seem, unfortunately, it is a part of modern India.
