Answer: 14 sq. cm

as they are stacked one after the other, only it one dimension is changed.

hence length breadth and height will be 1, 1 and 3

surface area = 2( lb + bh + lh)

                     = 2(1*1 + 1*3 + 1*3 )= 14sq. cm

When three cubes are joined end to end it forms a cuboid.


Therefore,

Length of cuboid is 3cm

Breadth of cuboid is 1cm

Height of cuboid is 1cm


So, surface area of resulting solid means cuboid = 2( lb+bh+hl)

= 2(3×1 +1×1 +1×3)

=2(3+1+3)

=2(7)

=14cmsquare
