INDIAN EVENTS.

1983 :- 18 February, Nellie massacre: over 2,000 people, mostly Bangladeshi Muslims, were massacred during the Assam agitation.

1985 :- 23 June, Air India Flight 182, a Boeing 747, blows up 31,000 feet (9,500 m) above the Atlantic Ocean, south of Ireland, killing all 329 aboard.

1998 :- 11 May, India conducts 3 underground nuclear tests in Pokhran, including 1 thermonuclear device.

6 June – The UN Security Council votes unanimously to condemn India and Pakistan for their nuclear weapons tests.

2000 :- 3 January – Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee accuses Pakistan of being behind the hijacking of an Indian plane and urges that Pakistan be declared a terrorist state.
