Bio means life hence biotic factors are the living components of an ecosystem.

They are divided into three groups:

- Producers (capable to prepare their food)

-Consumers (feed on producers)

-Decomposers (feed on dead bodies)

Decomposers include bacteria and fungi. They can damage food such as molds can grow even at cold temperature, in fridges on pickles, bread etc whereas bacterial infection can grow in canned and packed food even after they are heated and cooled at relevant temperatures.
