The reaction in which one element displaces other element from its compound is know as displacement reaction. Displacement reaction is of two types :-
- Single displacement reaction :- only one element is displaced by other
for example :- reaction of zinc with lead nitrate
- Double displacement reaction :- two elements is displaced by other two elements from its compound.
for example :- reaction of sodium nitrate with zinc chloride.
