The Crooked Forest (Polish: Krzywy Las) is a grove of oddly-shaped pine trees located near the town of Gryfino, West Pomerania, Poland.

Crooked Forest

The oddly-shaped "crooked" trees, 2013

This grove of about 100 pines was planted in the village of Nowe Czarnowo in around 1930. Each pine tree bends sharply to the north, just above ground level, then curves back upright after a sideways excursion of three to nine feet (1–3 m). The curved pines are enclosed by a surrounding forest of straight pine trees.[1]

It is generally believed that some form of human tool or technique was used to make the trees grow or bend this way, but the method was never determined and remains a mystery to this day. It has been speculated that the trees may have been deformed to create naturally curved timber for use in furniture or boat building.[2][3] Others surmise that a snowstorm could have bent the trunks, but there is little evidence of that.[3][4][5].

story..

crooked-tree-storyThere was a dense forest outskirt of the village. There was a woodcutter lived in this village. All trees were straight and tall. Their trunks were broad and shapely. But there was one tree which was having a crooked, shapeless trunk.

The crooked tree was sad. He thought, How ugly I am! All others are straight and shapely. I am alone crooked.

One day the woodcutter came there. He looked around and said, I will cut all trees here except that crooked tree. That is of no use to me. He cut all other trees excepted crooked tree.

Now, the crooked tree was happy for its crookedness. Only the crooked tree lived in the jungle.

Moral: Be happy with what you are. Don't expect something extra ordinary.
