The desirable characteristics of the two species can be combined by artificial hybridization.

• Artificial hybridization is the process of crossing two species which are having complimentary good traits to obtain a superior variety.

• There are five sequential steps of artificial hybridization.
• Emasculation: It is the process of removing anthers, stamens or pollen grains in order to keep only the female parent and the desired male plant provided by the breeder.
• Bagging: In this process, the emasculated flowers are immediately bagged to prevent any undesired cross-pollination.
• Tagging: the emasculated bagged flowers are marked according to their date of emasculation, date of pollination and the name of the female and the male parent.
• Pollination: The desired male parent which has mature pollen grains are collected and dusted on the stigma of the female plant with a brush.
• Rebagging: After the process of the desired pollination the flower is again bagged until the fruit begins to ripen. the fruit contains seeds which are hybrid.
