Answer:

I haven't used set squares but only did use compass and a scale .

steps to construct the above figure ↓

Step-by-step explanation:

STEPS :-

i) draw a line xy . take a point O outside xy. Draw a straight line from O to any point on xy and name it M.

ii) Now by taking the point M as centre, draw an arc with a compass taking the radius as ( 'r' or u can take any radius). And draw the same arc with the same radius from point O.

iii) Now as shown in the figure above ↑ , the arc drawn from M , intersects the line xy and OM at point a and b respectively. Join a and b . Now taking the radius of the compass of length ' ab ' ,

from the point c ( where the arc drawn from point O intersected with line xy ) cut the arc drawn from point O at d. by joining the points O and d and extending them to point U and V , we get a line UV parallel to xy.

iv) Now from point O, construct 90° and join that line to xy at point P . Hence we get our desired line perpendicular to xy which is drawn from O.

( as xy and UV are parallel, a line perpendicular to UV will also be perpendicular to xy . For more Explanation u can learn about the angles formed by cutting two parallel lines by a transversal. )

NOTE :- u can learn how to draw a 90° on a line using scale and compass in google. U can also learn how to draw two parallel lines from there.

Hope it helped :)
