3) Explain the following processes cyclic process with example and non cyclic process with example
Answers
Answer:
The cyclic and non- cyclic processes are very important topics in thermodynamics . Here I will give you brief description about cyclic and non- cyclic processes which is generally use in thermal science.
cyclic process :- When a system returns to it's original state after completing a series of change , then it is known that a cyclic is completed.
In cyclic process the initial and the final state is same. For cyclic process the net change in internal energy (∆U) is zero. These cyclics are ideal in nature.
According to First law of thermodynamics:-
∆Q = ∆U + W
For cyclic process, ∆U = 0 then,
∆U = 0 , ∆Q = W
Example :- The Carnot cycle is best example of cyclic process.
Non- cyclic process :- When a system doesn't returns to its original state because of irreversibilities present in system ( like friction ), then such type of process is known as non- cyclic process. All the real cyclics behave as non- cyclic process.
First law of thermodynamics is :-
∆Q = ∆ U + W
Example :- The boiling of water is best example of non- cyclic process.
