The most powerful ruler of Slave dynasty or Mamluk dynasty was Ghiyasuddin balban as before becoming the ruler also, he exerted a lot of control over Nasar-ud-din and eventually took over the throne from him in 1266. When balban came to power, he immediately got rid of as many nobles as possible and also he brutally crushed rebillions in regions like the Mewat and the Doab.

After Balban's death in 1287, the slave dynasty did not survive for too long because he was succeeded by weaker rulers and finally, the mamluk dynasty or the slave dynasty come to an end in 1290 and the Khalji dynasty began.
