Answer :-

  • Area of right triangle is 30cm².

Given :-

  • A right triangle with hypotenuse 13cm and one side 5cm.

To Find :-

  • Area of the right triangle.

Solution :-

Let

  • ABC be the triangle in which
  • AB is base = 5cm
  • AC is hypotenuse = 13cm

We've to find BC (perpendicular)

Let's find BC

⇒ AC² = AB² + BC² [ Pythagoras theorem ]

⇒ (13)² = (5)² + B²

⇒ 169 - 25 = B²

⇒ B² = 144

⇒ B = √144

⇒ B = 12cm

BC (perpendicular) = 12cm

As we know that

  • Area of a right triangle is »» ½ × base × perpendicular

According to question :-

⇒ Area = ½ × 5 × 12

⇒ Area = 5 × 6

⇒ Area = 30cm²

Hence, the area of the right triangle is 30cm².
