3. Find the area of the triangle whose sides are 30 cm, 24 cm and 18 cm. Also find the
of the altitude corresponding to the smallest side of the triangle.

sides of triangle = 30cm,24cm,18cm

2s= a+b+c

2s= 30+24+18

2s=72

s=72/2

s=36

Using HERONS FORMULA

area=-/s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)

-/36(36-30)(36-24)(36-18)

-/46656cm2

216cm2

base=18cm( corresponding to smallest side)

Area of triangle =1/2 X base X height

let the height be hcm

216= 1/2 X 18 X h

216/18 X 2 = h

12 X 2 = h

24=h

Required area= 216cm2

height =24 cm
