DERIVATION

Let a & b be two numbers

Let c be the arithmetic mean

Then

a, c , b are in Arithmetic Progression

So

Common Difference is same

 \implies \: c - a = b - c

 \implies \: 2c  = a  + b

 \displaystyle \:   \implies \: c  =  \frac{a + b}{2}

So the arithmetic mean of a & b is

 \displaystyle \:    \frac{a + b}{2}

TO DETERMINE

The arithmetic mean of 13 and 19

CALCULATION

From above we can say that the arithmetic mean of 13 and 19 is

  = \displaystyle \:    \frac{13 + 19}{2}

 \displaystyle \:    \frac{32}{2}

 = 16
