formula to find the area of a square is side × side

and formula to find the perimeter of a square is 4 × side since it has 4 equal sides.

(i) given area of the square = 225cm²

therefore side × side = 225cm²

➡ side² = 225cm²

➡ side = √225

➡ side = 15cm

the side of the square is 15cm.

hence, it's perimeter = 4 × 15

= 60cm

(ii) given area of the square = 144cm²

therefore side × side = 144cm²

➡ side² = 144cm²

➡ side = √144

➡ side = 12cm

the side of the square is 12cm.

hence, it's perimeter = 4 × 12

= 48cm

Question:

Find the side and perimeter of a square, if area is given

1) Area = 144 cm

2) Area = 225 cm

Solution:

We know that..

1) Area of square = side × side

=> side × side = 144

=> side² = 144

=> side = √144

=> \boxed{side \:=\: 12\: cm}

Perimeter of square = 4 × side

From above calculations we have side = 12 cm

=> 4 × 12

=> \boxed{48\:cm}

Perimeter of square = 4 × side

From above calculations we have side = 15 cm

=> 4 × 15

=> \boxed{60\:cm}
