kx (x-1) + 8 = 0

kx² - kx + 8 = 0

a = k

b = -k

c = 8

Discriminant (d) = b² - 4ac

For real and equal roots :

b² - 4ac = 0

(-k)² - 4(k)(8) = 0

k² - 32k = 0

k ( k - 32) = 0

k =0, k = 32

When, k = 0, equation is not quadratic

So,

k = 32
