Answer

Option D) D is third to the left of E.

\rule{100}2

Explanation

Let's collect all the points

  • A, B, C, D and E are five friends standing in a row facing south.
  • Only B is in between A and E
  • C is immediate right to E
  • D is immediate left to A

Let's take any of the five persons above as reference point. Here, we take E as the reference point.

Then, C would be immediate right to E. Now, they are facing south so their right would be our left

→ Position of C and E

C E

Now, only B is in between A and E. So, B wouldn't be on the right of C

→ Position of B and A

C E B A

Now, D is immediate left to A.

→ Position of D

C E B A D

Hence, we get all of the friends' position as

C E B A D

Now, check the options

Option A says B is to the left of A.

We can see that it is wrong, because B is to the right of A

Option B says B is to the right of E.

We can see that it is wrong too because B is to the left of E.

Option C says A is second to the left of C.

We can see that it wrong again because B is second to the left of C

Option D says D is third to the left of E.

Only this option is right because D is third to the left of E as we check their position.
