Answer:

a) Because the intermolecular space between the particles of gas is very large n their force of attract ion between the particles is negligible. hence, the particles are free to move randomly with high speed in all directions.

b) The kinetic energy of the gas particles is very high. Thus, the particles move randomly with high speed in all the directions. In doing so, the particles constantly collide with each other n also with the walls of the container. The force exerted by the gas particles per unit area on the walls of the container is the pressure exerted by the gas.

c) A wooden table has a definite shape and a definite. The particles of compactly pact together n thus is there is very less intermolecular space between them.. due to which they can maintain it's own shape when subjected to outside force. therefore, wooden table should be called a solid.

d) we can easily move our hand in air Because the intermolecular space between the particles of air is negligible i.e the particles are far apart from each other. Whereas in a solid block of wood, the particles are tightly packed and there's very less space between the particles and force attraction between the particles is very high.
