1. Air trapped between the layers of newspapers is a bad conductor of heat because more air is trapped in the multiple layers than one layer and as air is an insulator or a bad conductor of heat it keeps him warm as the heat does not escape.

2.Because a blanket traps more heat when compared to the newspaper.
