Acid tastes sour. Eg:- Hydrochloric acid

Base tastes bitter. Eg:- Sodium chloride

Answer:

The acid solution and the basic solution is determined by using the  litmus paper or pH paper. The blue litmus paper is used to detect acidic  solutions and the red litmus paper is used to detect the basic solution.

If the pH value is lower than 7, then the solution is considered as an acidic  solution. When the pH is greater than 7, then the solution is the basic  solution. When the pH is 7, then the solution is a neutral solution.

For example, if we dip blue litmus paper into pineapple juice, the blue  litmus paper will turn red. This proves that pineapple juice is acidic in  nature.
