Take a candle and a glass tumbler. lit the candle. place the tumbler on the candle. soon the candle will extinguish.this shows that air supports burning.

Answer:

Air not supports burning but the oxygen present in it supports burning . Take two candles light both of them keep one under the glass and keep the other candle normally without covering it after sometime we observe that the candle which was under the glass stops burning because the oxygen present in the glass is consumed and there is no more oxygen left inside the glass , on the other hand the second candle keeps on burning because of the oxygen present in the air.
