Answer: How would we test the presence of starch in leaves?

The boiled leaf is taken in a test tube and immersed in alcohol.

The test tube is then subjected to water bath.

This process is continued until the alcohol turns green.

Aim:-

  • To test presence of starch in leaves.

Materials needed:-

  • Iodine solution , a leaf , alcohol , stove .

Method:-

  • First we have to remove chlorophyll by boiling it in alcohol.
  • Now insert two drops of iodine solution on leaf.
  • Then the colour changes to blue colour.That indicates the present of starch in leaves.

Conclusion:-

  • The greeny area changes into blue colour.That indicates the present of starch in leaves.
