Answer:
This is a nerve cell
Nerve cells perform the function of transmission of signals from Central nervous system to body and from body to central nervous system.
So, to perform its function effectively the nerve cells have following features in their shape: (IN POINTS)
- They are long cells. This helps then to transmit information quickly so that time is not wasted in passing information through a large number of cells.
- Their long and slender shape helps in transmission to distant body parts.
- They have multiple dendrites which help in connecting them to large number of cells and form a dense network.
(IN WORDS)
The three main parts of a neuron are the axon, dendrite, and cell body. The axon conducts messages away from the cell body. The dendrite receives information from the next cell and conducts it towards the cell body. The cell body contains the nucleus, mitochondria, and other organelles. It is mainly concerned with maintenance and growth of the cell.
