B lies between A and C

Given :

A, B, C are three points on a line such that AB = 4 cm, BC = 2 cm and AC = 6 cm

To find :

Which one of them lies between other two

Option A: A

Option B: B

Option C: C

Option D: None of these

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given lengths

Here it is given that A, B, C are three points on a line such that AB = 4 cm, BC = 2 cm and AC = 6 cm

Step 2 of 2 :

Find which one of them lies between other two

AB = 4 cm, BC = 2 cm and AC = 6 cm

AB + BC

= 4 cm + 2 cm

= 6 cm

= AC

∴ AB + BC = AC

So B lies between A and C

Hence the correct option is Option B: B

In the attachment we observe that B lies between A and C
