perspex is brought close to it,
will the polythene swing
towards the perspex or away

Explanation:

it is not an easy task to say which one of the two, are positively charged or negatively charged.

If the polythene and perspex, when taken close to each other, attract each other then you can conclude that they have opposite charges ie when perspex is positively changed, then polythene is negatively charged and vice versa.

When they try to push each other. You can conclude they have same type of charges ie either both are negatively charged or both are positively charged.
