Average velocity = total displacement/total time interval taken for it.

In this case the initial point and the final point is the same which is A( Since it goes from A to B then returns to B)

Hence the net displacement is 0.

Now if you put it in the formula the average velocity comes out to be 0.

Average speed = total distance covered / total time taken

total distance walked by the person

= 2km +2km

= 4km

= 4000 m ( convert it into meter)

Total time taken

= 5 + 20min

= 25 min

= 1500 s ( convert it into second)

therefore,

average speed = 4000 / 1500

= 2.6 m/s
