(x - 2)(x + 3) = x - 4

______________ [ GIVEN ]

• We have to find the value of x.

___________________________

=> (x - 2) (x + 3) = x - 4

=> x(x + 3) -2(x + 3) = x - 4

=> x² + 3x - 2x - 6 = x - 4

=> x² + x - 6 = x - 4

=> x² + x - x - 6 + 4 = 0

=> x² - 2 = 0

=> x² = 2

=> x = √2

✡ Verification :

From above calculations we have x = √2.

Put value of x in this equation :

(x - 2) (x + 3) = x - 4

-> x² + x - 6 = x - 4

-> (√2)² + √2 - 6 = √2 - 4

-> 2 + √2 - 6 = √2 - 4

-> √2 - 4 = √2 - 4

L.H.S. = R.H.S.
