Answer:

1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

complement angle of x = 90 - x

supplement angle of y = 180 - y

Given :

angle x = 90 - x : 2x = 90 : x = 45

angle y = 180 - y : 2y = 180 : y = 90

then x/ y = 45 /90=1/2

The answer is 1/2

GIVEN

If x is the measure of an angle, which is

equal to its complement and y is the measure of an angle which is equal to its supplement.

TO FIND

The value of x/y

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that, Two angles are said to be complimentry if the sum of the angles is 90°

Value of one angle = x°

Compliment angle = (90-x)°

ATQ,

90-x = x

2x = 90

x = 90/2 = 45°

Similarly,

Two angles are said to complimentary if the sum of angles is 180°

Measure of one angle = y°

Suppliment angle = (180-y)°

ATQ,

180-y = y

2y = 180

y = 180/2 = 90°

Now,

X/y = 45/90 = 1/2

Hence, The answer is 1/2
