(x - y) {}^{2}  = 7 {}^{2}

x {}^{2}  + y {}^{2}  - 2xy = 49

x {}^{2}  + y {}^{2}  - 2 \times 9 = 49

x {}^{2}  + y {}^{2}  = 49  +  18

x {}^{2}  + y {}^{2}  = 67
