Hey... I think this can be ur answer!!

Sustainable development means development in present should not compromise with the needs of future generation and should not harm the environment.

It is important as:

1) resources are present in limited amounts in nature. The rate of exploiting resources is increasing than the rate of their formation.

2) environment should also be protected from the harmful effects of exploitation of resources.

3) some of the resources like fossil fuels are non renewable and get exhausted. So it's necessary that they are used in planned and sustainable manner.....
