3. In a lever of length 100cm, at one end lies the fulcrum and the other end an
effort of 20N is applied to lift a load of 80N. Find at what point away from
the fulcrum is the load.​

Given:

Length of the lever = 100 cm

Effort applied at one end = 20 N

Load = 80 N

To find:

At what point away from  the fulcrum is the load.

Solution:

Mechanical advantage of a lever = Effort arm/ Load arm = Effort/ Load

Effort arm = 100 cm because it is situated at the other end of the fulcrum.

100 / Load arm = 20/ 80

Load arm = (20*100) / 80 = 25 cm

Therefore the load is 25 cm from the fulcrum.
