3. In a mixture of 120 litres, the ratio of milk to the
water is 3 : 1. If this ratio is to be 1: 3, then the
quantity of water to be further added is

Answer:

let milk be 3x and water be x in first condition and milk be x and water be 3x in second condition

so according to question :-

1st condition :-

3x + x = 120

4x = 120

x = 120/4 = 30

so water = 30litres in 1st condition

now water in 2nd condition = 3x = 3*30 = 90 litres so quantity of water to be further added = 90-30 = 60 litres
