3. In an examination, a student has to secure 40% marks to pass. Rahul gets 178 marks and fails by 32marks .what are the maximum marks ?​

let the maximum marks be n.

so the passing marks will be - 40℅ of n

= ( 40 / 100 ) * n

= ( 4 / 10 ) * n

= 4n / 10

so the passing marks is 4n / 10

now, a student scored 178 marks and failed by 32 marks.

hence, the passing marks will be 178 + 32

= 210.

so passing marks = 4n / 10 = 210

4n / 10 = 210

4n = 210 * 10

4n = 2100

n = 2100 / 4

n = 525

Maximum marks = 525.
