See there are 5 papaya and. 4 mangoes and 3 apples

Now consider this like as if you have 3 boxes kept in front of you.

First box: contains 5 papaya

Second box contains 4 mangoes

And third box contains 3 apples

Now from first box you can select either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or none of the mango ..so in all 6 cases

Similarly from second box: you can select either 1 or 2 or 3or 4 or none apples..so you have 5 cases.

I think you got the point…

Proceeding similarly:

For third box : 4 cases

Thus in all : total selections : 6*5*4=120

Now this contains those cases also where you you have none of the 3 kinds of fruits selected

So we subtract that case

Thus total required cases(or also can be said as the cases where you want atleast one of the fruit )=120–1=119
