Answer:
Globalisation is a recent phenomenon. It can be defined as the flow of goods, capital, ideas and people across borders. Just as a coin has two different sides, similarly globalisation too has two different sides:
- POSITIVE
- NEGATIVE
Explanation:
Let's begin with YES, GLOBALISATION HAS NEGATIVE EFFECTS.
They can be summarised as the following:
- Globalisation has lead to the withdrawal of the State (ie. Government) from many aspects. In other terms, it has resulted in reduction of state functioning. In today's world state has withdrawn from the certain functions that are performed by private sectors.
- It leads to the imposition of a culture over another culture ultimately leading to the loss of the oppressed culture.
- It leads to increased international competition and inflow of cheaper products into a country's economy putting pressure over the domestic producers.
- It has also resulted in out sourcing, leading to loss of job opportunities in parent country.
Now let's move on to NO, GLOBALISATION HAS NOT ONLY NEGATIVE EFFECTS BUT ALSO POSITIVE EFFECTS.
They can be summarised as follows:
- Globalisation has led to increased disposal of technology at the state's hands which enables it to function more effectively.
- It has resulted in the consumers to choose from a vide array of cheaper and diverse products.
- It also encourages the domestic producers to improve their standards as per international competition.
Thus, it can be said that globalisation has both negative and positive effects.
Hope it helps!
