3. Joseph took some sodium hydroxide solution in
a petri dish and dipped a red litmus paper into
it. The red litmus paper turned blue.
He took vinegar in the same petri dish and
dipped blue litmus paper. It did not turn red.
(Vinegar, being an acid, must turn blue litmus
to red) What may be the reason for this?

The reaction between sodium hydroxide and vinegar neutralised the solution. thus the blue litmus paper didn't turn red.
