Explanation:

area of quad. ABCD= area of ∆ABD+area of ∆BCD

area of ∆ABD= 1/2×base×height

=1/2×8×1.5

=4×1.5

=6.0

=6 cm²

area of∆BCD= 1/2×base× height

= 1/2×8×3

= 4×3

=12 cm²

area of quad. ABCD= 6+12

18 cm²
