3 Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929. He was an American Christian minister and activist who became a leader of the civil rights movement. The Civil rights movement was started to achieve equality for African-Americans in America between 1954 and 1968. During this time, Black people in America were treated differently from white people and did not enjoy the same privileges. Martin Luther King Jr led his people to protest without violence to achieve equality for African-Americans. His organisation was a part of the Albany Movement which started in a place called Albany, Georgia and inspired thousands of people to protest peacefully for equality for all. King has become famous for speech he delivered during one of these protests, where he spoke about his dream of everyone being treated equally. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his contribution to abolishing inequality through non- violent methods. Martin Luther King Jr was a visionary and a catalyst who shaped and changed the way black people were treated in America. He was a master in understanding when and how to move people into action. He will always be remembered for his words and ideas.​
