About 4.1 days are taken by  1 man and 2 women solve the same problem if 3 men or 5 women can solve a problem in 3 days.

Given:

3 men or 5 women can solve a problem in 3 days

To Find:

In how many days can 1 man and 2 women solve the same problem?

Solution:

3 men can solve a problem in 3 days

Hence 3 * 3 = 9 man days required to solve the problem

Problem solved in 1 man day  = 1/9

5 women can solve a problem in 3 days

Hence 5 * 3 = 15 woman days required to solve the problem

Problem solved in 1 woman day  = 1/15

Problem solved in 2 woman day  = 2/15

Let sat  1 man and 2 women solve the same problem in d days

then work done =  d ( 1/9 + 2/15)

= d(5 + 6)/45

= 11d/45

Equate work done with 1

11d/45 = 1

=> d = 45/11

=> d ≈ 4.1 days

About 4.1 days are taken by  1 man and 2 women solve the same problem if 3 men or 5 women can solve a problem in 3 days.
