\bf\bigstar{Question}

3 metre wide road is running horizontally across the middle of a square park . If the side of park is 60 metre , then find the area of the park without the road.

\bf\bigstar{Answer}

Given :

Width of the road = 3 metre

Side of the park = 60 metre

To find :

Area of the square park without road

Solution :

It is given that the park is square shaped,

So as we know the area of the entire park will be

Area of a square = side² =  a ²

Here each side = 60 m

a = 60

a² = 60²

a² = 60 x 60

a² = 3600 m²

Then the area of the entire park is 3600 m².

Then, we need to find the area of the road.

The road will be in the shape of rectangle.

Width of the road = 3 m

Length of the road = length of the park = 60 m.

Area of the road = l x b

Area of the road = 3 x 60 m²

                         = 180 m².

Area of the park without area of the road =

                                     Area of the entire park - Area of the road.

⇒ 3,600 m² - 180 m²

⇒ 3,420 m².
