Given

The expression given is

(3 -  \sqrt{11} )(3 +  \sqrt{11} )

Find

We need to find that the given expression is rational or irrational

Solution

To find that the given expression is rational or irrational we will solve the equation

We know that

(a + b)(a - b) = a ^{2}  - b ^{2}

Therefore

 (\sqrt{3} )^{2}  - ( \sqrt{11} ) {}^{2}

Therefore

9 - 11 =  - 2

Hence -2 is a rational number
