3. Mohan and Sohan are two farmers in a village, both have their own plot for agriculture, adjacent
to each other shown below
Sohan's plot 150m
Mohan's plot
100m
Mohan is the owner of rectangular plot whose perimeter is 100m and Sohan is the owner of
rectangular plot whose perimeter is 150m and this plot has length twice that of mohan and breadth
5m more than that of Mohan's. Now answer the following:
i)
Write the linear equations for the plot.
Write the dimension of Mohan's plot.
Write the dimension of Sohan's plot​

Solution :-

→ Perimeter of mohan rectangular plot = 100m

→ Perimeter of sohan rectangular plot = 150m

also,

→ Length of sohan rectangular plot = 2 * mohan rectangular plot .

→ Breadth of sohan rectangular plot = (mohan rectangular plot + 5)

so, Let length of mohan rectangular plot is L m and breadth is B m .

then,

→ 2(L + B) = 100

→ L + B = 50 -------- Eqn.(1)

and,

→ 2(2L + B + 5) = 150

→ 2L + B + 5 = 75

→ 2L + B = 70 ------- Eqn.(2)

Subtracting Eqn.(1) from Eqn.(2)

→ (2L + B) - (L + B) = 70 - 50

→ 2L - L + B - B = 20

→ L = 20 m .

putting value of L in Eqn.(1),

→ 20 + B = 50

→ B = 30 m .

therefore,

  • Length of Mohan plot = 20m .
  • Breadth of Mohan plot = 30m .
  • Length of Mohan plot = 40m .
  • Breadth of Mohan plot = 35m .
