3 moles of a gas are present in a vessel at a temperature of 27 degree C. What is the value of gas constant (R) in terms of kinetic energy of molecules of gas? (Ans. 7.4 x 10^-4 KE per Kelvin)
I need to know the working.

The mass of 3mol CO2 is equal to 3*(12 + 2*16) = 3(12 + 32) = 132g

Temperature = 27°C = 273.15 + 27 = 300.15K

So, the Kinetic Energy would be:

KE = M(3RT/M)/2 = (3/2)RT

Thus, we find that the KE is entirely independent of the gas itself.

KE = (1.5)(8.315*300.15) = 3743.6 J
