Answer:

P(AUB) = P(A) +P(B) -P(AnB)

MULTIPLYING WITH n(s) ON BOTH SIDES

n(AUB) = n(A) +n(B) -n(AnB)

14= 7+9-n(AnB)

n(AnB) = 16-14

=2

Answer:

as number of (A) is 7

and that of (B) is 9

as per formula

number of (A) + number of (B) - no. of (A) intersection (B) = no. of (A) union (B) .

therefore

7+9 -x =14

-x = 14 - 16

-x= -2

which is

x=2
