Although there is a simple formula to compute the resistance of exactly two parallel resistors, I'm going to use the more general formula that can work for any number of resistors in parallel. The formula is:
R = 1/( 1/R1 + 1/R2 …)
In this case the result is 1.2 ohms. 6V/1.2 is 5 amps.
In the real world, you are unlikely to draw 5 amps because the battery has some internal resistance, enough that it would need to be taken into account. I assume the battery is capable of sourcing 5 amps.
But for your class you are certainly assuming a perfect battery with zero internal resistance and no limit on how much current you can draw from it. And, we didn't discuss a wattage rating for the resistors. They’d better be hefty, more than 1W each for sure
