let pen=x and pencil=y

so,

3x + 9y=306 ....(1)

2x + 8y=246 ....(2)

multiply eq 1 by 2 and eq 2 by 3

so,

6x + 18y=612

6x + 24y=738

subtract

→-6y = -126

   y = 21

put value of y in eq2

2x + 8(21) = 246

2x + 168 =246

x = 39

hence value of 1 pen = 39

and value of 1 pencil = 21

so value of 1 pen and 6 pencil= 39 + 6(21)

                                                  = 165 so answer is 165
