Explanation:

There are mainly four factors on which surface tension depends-

1. On impurities-: Surface tension will increase if the impurity is completely soluble in the liquid and surface tension will decrease if the impurity is partially soluble in liquid due to decrease in the cohesive force. If we will add detergent then the surface tension will decrease.

2. On contamination-: Surface tension will decrease due to dust particles are any lubricating material on the surface of the liquid.

3. On Temperature-: Surface tension is inversely proportional to temperature it means when we will increase the temperature surface tension will decrease and vice versa. 4°C is the maximum surface tension of water.

4. On cohesive force-: Factors those decrease the force between molecules will also decrease the surface tension and factors which increase the cohesive force will also increase the surface tension as well.
