A body of mass m moving with a velocity v has a kinetic enegy E = ½ mv2. Note that kinetic energy is always positive.

The work done by a body by virtue of its motion is called kinetic energy.

The energy possessed by a body because of its motion is called its kinetic energy.

The kinetic energy of an object is the energy that it possesses due to its motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity.

Having gained this energyduring its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes
