Red light of wavelength 6500A from a distant source falls on a slit 0.50 mm wide. What is the distance between
the first two dark bands on each side of the central bright of the diffraction pattern observed on a screen
placed 1.8 m from the slit.

Answer:

Single slit experiment.

Formula for fringe width = λ D / d

      slit width  d = 0.001 m = 1mm ,

       λ = 600 nm  ,  D = screen distance = 2m

So fringe width = 600 nm * 2m /0.001 m   = 1.2 mm

DIstance between two dark fringes which are on either side of the central bright fringe = 2 * 1.2 mm = 2.4 mm

pls mark me as brilliant
