Heya

3-√5 / 3+√5

Rationalising the denominator

(3-√5)² / (3+√5)(3-√5)

= 3²-2(3)(√5)+√5² / 3²-√5²

= 9-6√5+24 / 9-5

= 33-6√5 / 4

= -6√5 -(-33) / 4

a = -6/4 = -3/2

b = -33/4

Hope it helps! ^_^

(3 -  \sqrt{5} ) \div (3 +  \sqrt{5} )
on rationalising...

(3 -  \sqrt{5} ) {}^{2}  \div 3 {}^{2}  -  \sqrt{5}  {}^{2}

9 + 5 - 6 \sqrt{5}  \div 9 - 5

14 - 6 \sqrt{5}  \div 4
7 - 3 \sqrt{5}  \div 2
on \: comparing \: with \:  \:  \: a \sqrt{5}  - b

a = -3 and b = 7
