The Retreating monsoon season occurs between october and november in most parts of India.

The Low pressure trough formed over the Indus Lowlands and the north-western part of India is reduced as the area that receives the direct rays of the sun moves southwards and is eventually replaced by a region of High Pressure. Fine weather conditions prevail over most parts of India with less clouds, the day temperature rises and the night temperature falls slowly. There is still moisture in the soil from the south west monsoon and hence the increasing temperature with humidity causes an oppressive weather called the "October Heat". The area that receives the direct rays of the sun gradually shifts to the ocean south of the tropic of cancer. The low pressure trough forms at the centre of the Bay of Bengal at between 12 to 17 degrees north near the andaman islands. Hence, some tropical cyclones move from the north east to the south west and strike the Coromandel coast of India bringing heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning, causing great loss of life.

Hence, option a) is the correct answer.
